Brencis, the archenemy of The Blood of Dawnwalker.

What did he say to justify his rule over Vale Sangora?

And what did those devoted to him have to say?

Let’s dig through some of the documents found in the game.

The titles and wording of the in-game documents referenced here are based on the Japanese version, so for those playing in English, I hope the general meaning comes across.

(I’ll continue adding to this article whenever I find more relevant in-game documents.)

All right, let’s get into it.

Claim: “Skender Dragosti Was Greedy”

The in-game text Skender’s Sins describes how the former ruler, Skender Dragosti, enriched himself and ruled as he pleased.

One passage describes how Brencis offered to accept Skender’s surrender if he gave up his wealth, but Skender refused and instead led the nobility in fighting to the death.

Why Do the Vrakhiri Hate Silver?

The in-game text Meditations on the Superiority of Vrakhiri Over Men argues that because the Vrakhiri are superior to ordinary humans, they naturally react with disgust toward anything that is not of the finest taste or quality.

It’s one of those explanations that somehow makes sense and makes absolutely no sense at the same time.

Why Do the Vrakhiri Prefer Night to Day?

According to the in-game text Meditations on the Superiority of Vrakhiri Over Men, it is because “day is the time for work and struggle, while night is the time for dreams, visions, rest, and joy.”

It’s presented with surprising conviction—and is even a little romantic.
