A while ago, I started working on a gamebook-inspired random dungeon-crawling RPG called Roll the Dice in the Dungeon, but eventually put the project on hold.

Now, development is officially back underway!

The game combines a gamebook-style, menu-driven RPG with skill builds and semi-randomly generated dungeons.

For the visuals, I’m using assets created by Torio, along with images generated in accordance with the policy published by the artist.

Theoretically, the game is already playable up to a reasonably satisfying stopping point. However, it still has a long way to go in terms of polish and overall content.

I played it again for about 30 minutes for the first time in quite a while, and several problems quickly became apparent:

  • There are far too few types of events.
  • The events are not connected strongly enough to form a coherent narrative.
  • The rate at which the player gains experience does not match the rate at which enemies become stronger, resulting in extremely uneven game balance.
  • Critical hits are far too powerful, so battles often turn into luck-based button mashing rather than the tactical mind games I originally intended.

Those are the main areas I’ll be working on from here.

I’m currently planning to release the game sometime around October, so please look forward to it—and feel free to wait patiently!

Until next time, enjoy your gaming life!

Thank you so much for reading all the way to the end!!!
