Bad Blood Overview
The people of Laslea, led by Pieter, rise up against Brencis.
As their first move, they head to the Laslea Silver Mine, where silver—one of the vampires’ weaknesses—can be found.
However, it seems someone betrayed them.
Brencis’s forces suddenly descend upon the people of Laslea.
As little more than a group of ordinary villagers, they stand no chance and are brutally overwhelmed.
To make an example of him before the others, Coen has a Vrakhiri fang driven into his heart.
When Coen wakes up, he joins the surviving villagers in searching for Pieter. During the search, however, his Vrakhiri powers awaken.
He ends up sinking his teeth into one of his fellow villagers.
The two struggle and fall all the way to the deepest part of the mine. Now trapped below, Coen must make his way back to the surface while learning to use his newly awakened Vrakhiri powers.

Unique Features of Bad Blood
Vampire Powers Are Unlocked
The vampire abilities mentioned in our article on The Blood of Dawnwalker’s day-night system become available during this quest.
Bad Blood also serves as a tutorial for learning how to use these abilities.
What Happens If You Defeat Brencis
Brencis, whom you fight in Step 9 above, is an extremely powerful opponent. However, this does not appear to be a battle you are forced to lose—it seems that you can actually defeat him if you are good enough.
If you win, you can apparently see a special event…
I’ve deliberately avoided looking up the details because I don’t want to spoil it for myself.
Features Unlocked by Bad Blood
Completing the quest unlocks two of the game’s major systems: the 30-day time limit system and the day-night system.
The Folklore Behind Kobolds and Mines
Some players may be wondering, “Why are there Kobolds in a mine?”
In folklore from German-speaking regions, Kobolds have long been associated with mines and are sometimes depicted as spirits that play tricks on miners.
I cover this connection in more detail in Kobolds in The Blood of Dawnwalker: Folklore and Their Dog-Like Portrayal in JRPGs, so give it a read if you’re interested.
