Overview
The youngest vampire among the Vrakhiri.
His life as a human was marked by poverty and humiliation, and he willingly sought to become a vampire in pursuit of power. Despite his elegant appearance, charm and deception are among his greatest weapons.
Rather than ruling through brute force, he excels at engineering situations in which others have little choice but to submit to him, breaking their spirit by making them feel as though they surrendered of their own free will. He is cunning and manipulative by nature.
Originally little more than a rank-and-file soldier, he gained power and authority under Brencis.
According to Iulian Codrin, this has left Ambrus deeply attached to power, and he has no hesitation about using it to his advantage.
By governing harshly over the old ruling classes—including established nobles, wealthy merchants, and powerful members of the clergy—he has won support among the common people.
He keeps humans who have chosen to offer him their blood as “blood cattle,” and makes a habit of drinking from them before a duel.
